Perkussion
LUNASON percussion instruments combine a unique and innovative palette of sound colours.
Metasonic
The “metasonic sounds” of the metaphone and bass drum produce a rich spectrum due to their metal body. We call the LUNASON instruments “metasonic instruments”, which have a metal body as a resonating body and thus produce very characteristic overtone spectra and an individual sound.
Developments
The strongly interfering yet soft vibrations of the sixxes, the glissandi on the pyrablocks and the soft yet sometimes garish sounding reeds of the gaiabells are tonal developments of traditional instruments.
Spectral sounds
The spectral sounds of the Nicophones and the Kawaphone are based on a specially developed lamella system. As the idiophones have a large number of lamellae, but these transmit the vibrations to each other, a spectrum is always generated. Each lamella is a kind of fundamental tone which in turn produces an overtone spectrum. As all the louvres always vibrate, a large spectral sound cloud is always created.
